If you have a finished basement, you probably wish that you had some natural light. No matter how good the lighting you have inside, it doesn’t measure up to natural light. If the basement is below ground level, you might think that you don’t have any alternatives, but that is not necessarily the case. You could have window wells installed.
Window wells are exactly what they sound like. A dugout well that you have a window in. Of course, creating window wells is no easy task. There are many things to take into account such as water intrusion and insulation, but if you are determined to have windows in your basement, it might be your only option.
If you do have window wells, it is important to keep them clean, since leaves, branches and other debris tend to collect inside the well. These will then prove to be excellent nesting spots for rodents or other pests.
