There are pros and cons to purchasing an electric stove or a gas stove. Here are a few things about each stove to help you to decide which stove will be best for you.

Gas stoves, depending on the area where you live, can be less expensive to purchase and operate than electric stoves. Also, gas stoves offer more precise temperature control than electric ones. On the other hand, even though gas stoves can be powered by butane, propane, or liquified petroleum, most gas stoves today run on natural gas, which requires a gas line to the house. Natural gas lines may not be available in your area.

When it comes to electric stoves, they tend to be more energy-efficient than gas stoves. Electric stoves are also considered to be generally safer for households due to having no open flame and because there is no risk of a gas leak. Also, electric stoves can be easier to clean. Most electric stoves can also simmer better and go to high heat quicker than gas stoves. Although when adjusting the temperature down or turning the heat off, the electric stove responds slower than a gas stove.

These are just a few things to keep in mind when purchasing your new stove.

It doesn’t matter how clean your home can be, sometimes you will get indoor ants in your home. Here are a few steps to help you to get rid of those ants.

The first step you will want to take is to find what is attracting the ants indoors. These ants can be attracted by dirty dishes in the sink or they could even be attracted to your dog or cat food dish. You can first try to clean up these areas to eliminate what is attracting the ants, and hopefully, the ants will move on.

The next step you will want to take is to eliminate the scouting trails of the ants. Scouting ants leave behind pheromones so that other ants can find their trails, so you cannot simply wipe away the ants. You can eliminate those trails by spraying the areas with a mixture of three parts of water to one part vinegar.

Another step is to try to repel the ants from returning. You can do this by using a product with boric acid, just make sure you follow the instructions carefully because these chemicals can be harmful to children and pets. Another option would be to use a natural spray of a mixture of peppermint or lavender oil with water. With either option, you would spray these mixtures around the entry point for the ants.

These few steps will help you to get rid of these indoor ants.

Glass-topped electric stoves have become popular over the years with many people. One reason for this is that they are easier to clean. Here are a few suggestions to help you clean your glass-topped electric stove.

The first suggestion to help you to keep that stovetop clean is to wipe down your glass-topped stovetop after each use with a damp towel. If you need a little bit of a cleaner, you could spritz the area with a little vinegar before you wipe down the area.

Another suggestion to help you clean the tougher stains is to use baking soda and vinegar, which is a natural cleaner. After your stovetop is cool, spritz the stovetop with vinegar and generously sprinkle with baking soda. Next wet a cloth with hot water and wring out the extra water. Place this towel over the stovetop and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then remove the towel and with a clean microfiber cloth wipe down the stovetop. Lightly spray the stovetop again with vinegar and then wipe down the area with another clean microfiber cloth until the streaks are gone. If you still have a stain, repeat these steps until the stain is removed.

These are just a few suggestions to help you clean your glass-topped stovetop, and to keep it looking its best.

Even though you may have a regular cleaning schedule, there may be certain home items that you are forgetting to clean. Here are a few items that you should not overlook.

The first item many people forget to clean is your toothbrush holder. You should really clean your toothbrush holder once a week. You can do this by throwing it into your dishwasher, or washing it by hand using soap and hot water to sanitize the toothbrush holder.

Another item people tend to forget about cleaning is your reusable shopping bags. These bags can quickly collect stains and start to smell. This can lead to a breeding ground for mold and bacteria. You can wipe down the plastic reusable bags and throw the fabric bags in your laundry machine.

People also forget to clean kitchen handles. These handles too can become a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. So it’s a good idea to once a week scrub down kitchen cabinet handles, and appliance handles, such as your refrigerator, freezer, and oven handles, or right after you touch these handles with messy hands.

So if you are overlooking these items, it will be a good idea to add them to your regular cleaning schedule to keep everyone safe and healthy.

If you are wanting to update your home, but you don’t want to spend a lot of money, here are a few suggestions to help you to update your home without a big expense.

The first suggestion is to put a fresh new coat of paint onto your walls. You could try painting your doors or even painting furniture pieces to help give everything an updated look.

Another suggestion is to add some artwork. You could try looking in thrift shops or antique stores. Also, when you purchase artwork from those sources, the artwork normally already comes in a frame, which will help you to save on that expense. Even a small piece of art can brighten up empty wall space.

The last suggestion is to hire an interior designer for an hour. Many designers have hourly rates and will come to your home for a short consultation for advice or a vision for your space. You could also try hiring a stager to help you to find a better flow for your home.

These few suggestions will help you to brighten up your home with a fresh new look without having to spend a lot of money.

When we try to organize our home and try to reduce clutter, sometimes we can make the area more cluttered than when we started. Here are a few ways to help you to reduce that clutter.

The first way is to ask yourself if an item is something that you really need or use. For example, if you have accumulated several specialty small appliances, maybe keep only the appliances that you use several times during the year. Another example is clothing. Have you worn the clothing within a year? If not, donate or get rid of the clothing.

Another way to help reduce clutter is to organize all your loose papers. Have one area where you sort all your mail. Also, you may want to try to digitize any receipts or documents when you don’t need the physical copies. You will want to remember to shred any papers that may contain any of your personal information.

The last way to help you to reduce clutter is to make sure those donation bags or baskets or in full view instead of in a closet where we don’t see them and then forget about the bags or baskets. Then when the donation containers are full, make the trip right away to donate the items.

These few ways will help you to clear away that clutter and help you to stay organized.

When you have a pet, it can be hard to keep your house smelling its best. Here are a few tips to help you to reduce those pet odors.

The first tip you can try is to sprinkle baking soda over rugs, carpets, and furniture. Leave it sitting for a few hours and then vacuum. Or you could leave it overnight, and then in the morning vacuum up the baking soda. This will help everything smell fresher.

Another tip is to invest in a good air purifier, just make sure you read the reviews to find a good one. These air purifiers help to reduce pet dander and remove odors. Also, remember to regularly change your filters.

The last tip is to clean your litter boxes daily. There is low-odor cat litter available, but make sure to continue to clean your litter box daily. Even if you do this, every so often, dump out all the litter and give the box a clean, and then fill it again with fresh litter.

These are just a few simple tips to help you to reduce those pet odors and to help your home smell fresh and clean.

Will you soon be welcoming a new puppy into your home? Here are a few things to keep in mind when puppy-proofing your home.

The first thing to keep in mind is that puppies love to chew on things, so make sure you put away all small items that could be choking hazards. These choking hazards could be rubber bands, jewelry, paper clips, and coins. You will also need to make sure all medications are in a place where puppies cannot reach them. So don’t keep the medication on a night table or a bathroom counter, even if they are in a pill bottle or dispenser. Another thing puppies will chew on is electrical cords. So move these electrical cords or string them through a cord concealer.

Another thing to remember is to secure trashcans. Puppies will be attracted to the scents from the garbage, and they will want to explore the garbage. Keeping garbage cans secure will help your puppy from eating something poisonous for dogs, making him sick. On that line, make sure all poisonous houseplants are also out of reach of the puppy.

These are just a couple of things to keep in mind when puppy-proofing your home to help your new puppy stay safe.

Everyone seems to get some type of stain on their carpets. Here are a couple of tips to help you treat two common carpet stains.

The first common stain is candle wax. Wax may seem impossible to get out, but here is a way to try to get the wax out. You will first want to let the wax cool. Once the wax is cool, try scraping as much of the wax off as possible. Then, put paper towels on top of the wax and press with a warm dry iron. After that area cools, fluff the fibers with your fingers.

Another common stain in red wine. First, take absorbent cloths and blot the spill. Then, spritz or sponge the stain with cold water. Next, sponge with a mix of 1 Tbsp each dish liquid and white vinegar to 2 cups of warm water. Blot dry, then spritz or sponge again with cold water to rinse. Last, blot dry.

These are just two tips to help remove those stubborn carpet stains. Keep in mind that there are carpet stain removal products out there, just make sure that these products are compatible with your carpets and that you follow the product’s directions.

If you are a pet owner and are thinking about installing new flooring, here are a few things to consider when picking out new flooring that will be best for your pet and for your family.

The first thing to consider is that if you really want hardwood floors, you may want to think about getting a factory-finished floor that will help to prevent normal wear and tear from pets. When considering these floors, just keep in mind that this type of flooring is more porous than others. So you will need to quickly clean up messes and spills.

Another thing to consider is that you may want to go with a ceramic or porcelain tile for flooring. These tiles are made out of a tough material that is scratch-resistant and easy to clean. These types of tiles are also nonporous, so they will not easily absorb smells.

The last thing to consider is that if you want rugs in your home, you may want to use an indoor-outdoor rug that is designed with stain-proof, odor-proof synthetic materials, instead of natural material rugs that are harder to clean.

These are just a few considerations to think about before purchasing your new flooring to make it a little more pet-friendly.
