Do you have young children in your home? How about older ones? There are certain risks that are worsened for those age groups when attention and reaction times might not be the best. Take hot water for example. When you notice that the water coming out of the faucet, you’re probably quick to get your hands out of the way, but this might not be the case for someone from those two groups. The water coming out of your water heater could be hot enough to scald in just a few seconds, and this is why anti-scald valves are so important.
An anti-scald valve works by mixing the incoming hot and cold water to get it to a better temperature. This will also protect you from a quick change in water pressure suddenly changing the temperature of your shower water when someone flushes a toilet or opens up a faucet.
It is possible for an anti-scald valve to fail, so if you recently have started to experience issues with water temperature, you might want to have it replaced.
