Do you know what the most dangerous room in your home is? You might be aware of this, but most statistics will tell you that the bathroom is the room in which a homeowner is most likely to get injured or die. This room is especially dangerous for elderly ones that have a hard time keeping their balance.
We’re not saying that you shouldn’t ever step into your bathroom again, but it is good to keep in mind that you can minimize the danger that is your bathroom.
First, make sure that there is little chance of slipping and falling. If you have a carpet in the bathroom, it should have a non-slip surface on the back. If necessary, non-slip material can be installed in the tub as well, and railings can give extra support when getting in and out of the shower.
Most of us don’t use the tub, so replacing that with a walk-in shower will greatly improve the safety of your bathroom, as well as the space available.
